The grade you specify is the grade that ships, with certificates. Tolerance is quoted against production capability, not sample capability.

Material choice is rarely the cheapest decision on a drawing, but it is usually the one that decides whether the part works. We buy to the grade named on the drawing and issue the certificate with the parts, traceable to the heat number.
If you want an equivalent rather than the exact grade, that is a conversation before the material is ordered — not a substitution made quietly in the saw shop.
| Material family | Grades we run regularly | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Nickel & high-temperature alloys | Inconel 718 · 625 · MP35N | Work-hardening grades. Low surface speeds, rigid setups, held to size by high-accuracy turning. |
| Beryllium copper | C17200 | Non-magnetic and high-strength, common in sensor, instrument and downhole parts. |
| Carbon & alloy steel | 1045 · 4140 · 42CrMo · 20CrMnTi · 40Cr | The workhorse family. Good machinability, responds well to hardening and grinding. |
| Stainless steel | 303 · 304 · 316L · 17-4PH · 420 · 440C | Shafts, sleeves and parts in corrosive or hygienic environments. |
| Aluminium | 6061-T6 · 7075-T6 · 2024 · castings | Lightweight structural and housing parts. Machines fast, needs care on thin walls. |
| Brass & copper | H62 · C3604 · OFHC copper | Bearings, bushings, electrical and thermal parts. |
| Tool & hardened steel | H13 · SKD11 · D2 · S136 | Moulds, dies and punches, usually finished by EDM and grinding. |
| Magnesium & titanium | AZ31 · Ti-6Al-4V | Weight-critical and high-performance parts, quoted case by case. |
| Engineering plastics | PEEK · POM · PPS · Nylon · PTFE | Machined plastic parts where metal is not the right answer. |
| Castings & forgings | Aluminium and iron castings · steel forgings | We machine and finish supplied castings and forgings. |
A single figure per process describes a shop's best case, not your part. What is achievable depends on the feature, the material, the hardness, the batch size and how the part is fixtured. We quote against what we can hold repeatably on your drawing — and we say so at quotation stage if a feature is outside that.
Finish and treatment
Finish and treatment are quoted as steps with their own lead time, so the delivery date you receive includes them.

Tell us the part, the material and the quantity. An engineer reviews your drawing and replies within one working day — usually with a suggestion on how to make it cheaper.
